Terms of Use Randolph County Historical Black Society (the “RCHBS”) operates and maintains its website, located at  randolphcountyhistoricalblacksociety.org, to promote its mission of preserving and sharing the history and heritage of the copper-colored, so-called black inhabitants of Randolph County, Missouri. By using this website, you accept and agree to comply with the following terms and conditions.

  1. Ownership of the Content: The RCHBS owns the compilation of content posted on the website, which includes text, images, audio, video, databases, design, codes, and software (“Content”). This does not mean that the RCHBS owns each component of the compilation, some of which may be owned by others and used with their permission or used in accordance with applicable law (e.g., fair use). Further, the RCHBS owns some, but not all, of the intellectual property rights in the Content, including copyright.

  2. Using the Content Content on the website falls into one of two categories for purposes of your use:

a. Content with Creative Commons Zero – CC0 Content marked with the Creative Commons Zero icon CC0 is made available under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. b. All rights not expressly granted herein by the RCHBS are reserved, unless the Content is marked with the CC0 icon.

  2. User-Generated Content The RCHBS offers interactive features on its website to engage with its audiences and advance its mission of preserving and sharing history. The rules listed below for your participation in these features are intended to encourage a learning environment where thoughtful discussion may safely occur among people of all ages and backgrounds.

Rules of Conduct

  • Stay on topic. The RCHBS and its audiences expect comments and contributions to deal with topics relevant to the mission and content of the website.
  • Keep the conversation civil. Express yourself in ways that are befitting of an educational environment. Do not post threatening, sexually explicit, or hateful content. Hateful includes derogatory statements targeting individuals or specific groups; these may be based on race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or expression, age, and mental or physical ability. Do not use profanity. While criticizing RCHBS decisions or operations is allowed, personal attacks are not.
  • No spamming, selling, or advertising. This is not the place to promote non-RCHBS products, services, causes, or any candidates.
  • Allow reuse. The RCHBS (and those authorized by it) may use what you contribute for non-commercial, educational, or promotional purposes.
  • Stay lawful. Post only what is yours to post. Do not spread malicious or harmful software or other technology. Do not suggest or encourage illegal activity.
  • Take personal responsibility. These are public sites. Do not post personal or other information you would not want the public to know, and again, do not post what is not yours to post.
  1. Copyright Complaints If you have any complaints or objections to Content posted on the website because it was not properly credited or it was posted without permission and you are the copyright owner, please contact the RCHBS with your contact information and a link to the relevant Content.

  2. Third-Party Sites The website may link to or from third-party sites that are not under the control of the RCHBS. These links are provided as a convenience and for informational purposes only, and they do not indicate the RCHBS’s endorsement, sponsorship of, or affiliation with the third party or content of the linked site, including any advertisements that may be posted. The RCHBS has no control over, makes no representation or warranty, and bears no responsibility for the accuracy, legality, or content of third-party sites that link to or from the website.

  3. Disclaimer The RCHBS makes no representations of any kind regarding the website, the Content, or any portion thereof. The website and Content are provided on an “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” basis without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular use, copyright ownership, and/or non-infringement or other third-party proprietary rights.
